02.10.2009.

In October 2009, the Directorate for Inland Waterways Plovput has finished the works on establishing the marking system on the Sava River in Serbia, planned for this year.

The Sava River international waterway is currently marked with navigation signs (basic signs for navigation and chainage signs) for daylight navigation on the whole stretch of the Sava River in Serbia (from km0 to km178 on both banks, and from km178 to km210 on the left bank). These works were performed according to earlier adopted Marking plan for the Sava River and its tributaries for 2009 (Decision No. 02/09 of the Sava Commission).

Restoration of marking system on the Sava River started in September 2007. Till the end of that year, the first 48km of the river were marked. Further works on marking system restoration were intensified in June 2008, when section from rkm 48 to rkm 150 was marked. Parallel to these field works, activities on establishing the monitoring station on the Sava River had started. The town of Sremska Mitrovica was selected as the location for the first monitoring station on the Serbian stretch of the Sava River, and the plan is to set another one in the town of Sabac in the near future. The monitoring station in Sremska Mitrovica should start to operate in 2010.
