TAIEX workshop was held from 18-19 June 2018 in Belgrade, in the premises of MCTI – Directorate for Inland Waterways (Francuska 9)

The TAIEX expert mission on the topic of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) presented the planned activities within the Program through a workshop organized at the premises of the Directorate for Inland Waterways. The objectives of the CEF Program are to promote growth, employment and competitiveness by directing investments in infrastructure projects at the European level, especially at the level of the Trans-European Transport Network.

European Commission

The meeting was organized by the TAIEX office in Brussels and the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure. Representatives of the relevant institutions in the Republic of Serbia participated with up to three participants in accordance with the invitation submitted by the Ministry.

The workshop was held in the Serbian language, and was led by Mr. Kristijan Ležaić from the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure - Directorate for EU Funds and Strategic Planning, who is also the CEF Coordinator for Transport in the Republic of Croatia.

The workshop is based on the exchange of information on the methodology of defining, strategic framework and practice regarding the preparation and implementation of projects in the field of transport infrastructure, financed by the CEF program. The two-day program included the presentation of the key institutions responsible for the implementation of these projects at the European Union level, but also the need to establish an adequate implementation framework at the national level (the establishment of a project management unit for projects financed by EU funds, an audit body for the mentioned projects, etc.). Examples of projects of the Republic of Croatia financed within the CEF program, started within the CEF 2014-2020 programming period were presented to the participants. The speaker also emphasized what are the known novelties that will be recorded after the opening of the second call for CEF projects within the programming period 2021-2027.

Participants are also familiar with the detailed structure of the application form for CEF project applications and the characteristic deadlines for preparation, submission and evaluation of documentation and possible risks, as a necessary part of the project proposal for obtaining funds from this financing instrument.
